La classifica dei dischi più venduti di sempre

È stata pubblicata la classifica aggiornata dei dischi più venduti nel Regno Unito negli ultimi sessant’anni, ossia dalla prima classifica storica pubblicata dal Record Mirror nel luglio del 1956. La classifica include sia le uscite album che le compilation e contiene diverse sorprese.

Al primo posto c’è la Greatest Hits dei Queen pubblicata nel 1981, unico disco ad aver venduto più di 6 milioni di copie solo nel Regno Unito. A seguire un’altra Greatest Hits, quella degli Abba del 1992, mentre il primo disco ufficiale a comparire in questa classifica è Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band dei Beatles, l’unico tra i dischi ufficiali ad aver abbattuto la barriera dei 5 milioni di copie vendute. Subito dopo, a sorpresa, un’artista della nuova generazione, Adele con l’album 21, che conferma la sua presenza regolare tra gli artisti più amati dal pubblico oltremanica. Il resto è un’alternanza tra nomi ovvi (Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Dire Straits) e altri che non ti aspetti (tipo Shania Twain così in alto in classifica, davanti a nomi come Rem, Simon & Garfunkel o Take That), più alcune assenze eccellenti (Radiohead? Non pervenuti).
