Kia is definitely among the brands that will be remembered for the tears we had in our eyes: the 2024 EV9 commercial follows the story of a young girl progressing in the dream of her life, becoming a good ice skater. But something important is missing, and that’s what made her so sad.
It’s the perfect example of how a short story can touch a chord with us. You empathize with someone; you feel a little girl’s sadness in a crucial moment of her life. She’s putting in her best effort; she just completed her best performance in front of a big crowd. Her father is there, proud of her, but the seat next to him is empty. That little girl cannot share her happiness with everybody. So her father organizes the moment that touched us all: he brings his daughter to the grandfather’s home, using the power of the Kia EV9 model, and allows her to repeat her performance on the ice in front of the porch. Her grandfather couldn’t leave home; he’s in a wheelchair, but his reaction after her granddaughter’s show proves the efforts were worth it.
