The new T-Mobile commercial released for the 2024 Super Bowl features Jason Momoa, Scrubs‘ Zach Braff and Donald Faison & an iconic song.

The 2024 Super Bowl is here, bringing its massive load of new commercials and the usual fresh ideas ready to populate television in the next few months. And, as usual, T-Mobile will be one of the main protagonists of this season. The mobile operator went viral last year after involving two stars from the memorable TV series Scrubs: Zach Braff and Donald Faison, better known as JD and Turk, became a stable presence in the 2023 T-Mobile commercial campaigns. A success that couldn’t go unnoticed, leading the company to renew this unique partnership.

That’s how we arrived at this. The new T-Mobile commercial will debut on the 2024 Super Bowl and will feature the same protagonists, again passionately involved in a musical. However, this time, a special guest joined the team: the American actor Jason Momoa, playing the part of a new neighbor who has no problems getting involved in Zach Braff and Donald Faison’s dance moves. As you can imagine, the result is hilarious: watch it below.

In the 2024 commercial, the three actors enter a musical escalation driven by that unique “home internet feeling” promoted by T-Mobile: we see Jason Momoa surprising everybody with some advanced dance moves, singing that classic song with a style that deserves praise.

The song lyrics are adapted to T-Mobile’s Home Internet offer, but of course, the original song is pretty famous. The youngest generations may not know it, though, so here we go: the song you hear in ther 2024 T-Mobile commercial with Jason Momoa is Flashdance… What a Feeling by Irene Cara, from the soundtrack of the classic 1983 movie Flashdance. Flashdance is a popular musical drama film that represented one of the biggest releases of the 80s. Directed by Adrian Lyne, the film gained significant attention for its memorable dance sequences and a soundtrack featuring hit songs: besides What a Feeling, the film’s soundtrack also includes classic songs like Michael Sembello’s Maniac and Laura Branigan’s Gloria. It’s one of those movies that made cinema history, and its songs have been used many times in modern commercials.

The dance Zach Braff and Jason Momoa show in the middle of the commercial, with those fast feet movements, is a direct reference to the original movie: you can watch the movie actress Jennifer Beals doing it in the official scene taken from the film, which became Maniac’s official video and, in general, one of the symbols of the 80s.
