The theme song from Your Friends & Neighbors is an original composition created specifically for the show: let’s take a closer look.
Your Friends & Neighbors has positioned itself as one of the most intriguing releases of 2025 on Apple TV+. The plot is particularly compelling, centered around the life of Coop, a wealthy American businessman who suddenly finds himself out of the job market and is forced to turn to crime in order to maintain the lifestyle society expects of him. The show touches on numerous themes: capitalism and its constraints, social expectations, the challenges of today’s economic system, and, more broadly, relationships with family, friends, and neighbors – indeed.
Anyone who has watched the series will have noticed the captivating opening titles. You can find them below.
The normalcy of everyday life disrupted by sudden explosions—a visual symbol that perfectly captures what happens to Coop. And a particularly captivating song that has piqued everyone’s curiosity. The theme song of Your Friends & Neighbors is called The Joneses, and it’s an original composition by American singer Hamilton Leithauser. You can stream the full track below.
Hamilton Leithauser is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist renowned for his emotive vocals and evocative songwriting. He gained prominence as the frontman of the indie rock band The Walkmen, active from 2000 to 2014. Following the band’s hiatus, Leithauser embarked on a solo career, releasing five albums between 2014 and 2025.
In this interview with Stereogum, series creator Jonathan Tropper shared how the track came to be. He wanted Leithauser to write the theme song after becoming increasingly drawn to his discography. As he explains in the interview:
“Hamilton’s got such an interesting and unconventional voice – it’s raw and epic and intimate all at the same time. When we were thinking about who should record Dom’s tune, I started to imagine the song in Hamilton’s voice, and I thought it might be a great match. There’s a melodic weariness to it, a perfect imperfection that I thought captures the angst and irony of the song and, by extension, the show.”
Hamilton Leithauser composed the song after watching some parts of the series prior to its release. This makes it particularly fitting for Your Friends & Neighbors, a track with captivating melodies that break away from the usual patterns of indie music.
