The Gentlemen series soundtrack and the opening song

The Gentlemen, the series created by Guy Ritchie is finally on Netflix, and the soundtrack is amazing: let’s discover the opening song and the other tracks.

Since the movie The Gentlemen was released in 2019, it was obvious that Guy Ritchie’s concept was extremely promising. After all, it was the typical mix of elements people love in his art: the English atmosphere, the raw world of criminality, the “pulp” perspective, and a massive dose of irony. The setting was easy to reuse, and that’s how the series that landed on Netflix in 2024 was born: the world of English aristocracy dealing with gangsters and drug dealers, trying to reconcile posh attitude and killer instincts, was too sharp to leave it there.

The Gentlemen series inherits the fascinating contrasts of the movie, adopting an entirely new cast: Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Giancarlo Esposito, Ray Winstone, and the others represent a varied mix of style and threats. The plot shifts from the criminal portrayed in the 2019 movie to Duke Eddie’s fascinating ascent inside the world of criminality. And, of course, the soundtrack is the gem underlying all the rest.

The Gentlemen series soundtrack was curated by British composer Christopher Benstead, who already wrote the music for the 2019 movie (and also for Guy Ritchie’s 2023 movie The Covenant). The musical choices you hear in the TV show are always exciting, and there are many songs people are curious to discover. After all, hearing a powerful rap song like Aystar’s Kop That S–t or the infinite riff of Iron Butterfly’s In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida while the plot shows its twists one after the other… well, it’s one of those pleasures we look for when watching a series.

However, one of the most fascinating aspects of the series The Gentlemen is the original soundtrack made by Chris Benstead, and that’s why that opening song has stolen the spotlight. Every episode uses a different opening track, but it always belongs to the same concept: an epic atmosphere boosted by the chorus of tenors in an orchestral composition that brings things to another level.

If you loved The Gentlemen‘s opening song, we recommend you listen to the whole original soundtrack: you can find it below, from Spotify.

The opening song that fascinated you in the central episodes of The Gentlemen is probably Halstead Manor or The Gentlemen Titles: you can listen to it also on Youtube, here and here. It’s the music you hear in the opening titles of some series episodes as the credits shift behind your eyes.

Classical music is always a decisive element in movies and series, and it’s always a pleasure when we find modern composers still creating it, matching the power of an entire orchestra with the images we like from contemporary productions. The collaboration between Guy Ritchie and Chris Benstead gave birth to another masterpiece: The Gentlemen series soundtrack with its opening song and the rest of the score is a gem we can keep with us for some weeks.
