The song’s melody is so flexible that, over the years, many artists reinterpreted it in different ways and styles. Still, among the most famous artists who made a personal version of Blue Moon we see Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, and many others.

Blue Moon: the lyrics and their meaning

Blue Moon‘s lyrics are poetic and hide an enigmatic meaning. The expression “blue moon” refers to the astrological event of two full moons in the same calendar month, which happens rarely. Therefore, metaphorically, the author is talking about an unanticipated event that occurred in his life: he found love all of a sudden; the singer was alone, but somehow he received a gift from above, a girl asked him to love her, and he realized that he wasn’t alone any longer.

Below you can find the complete lyrics from the original song:

Blue moon you saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own

Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for

And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper “Please adore me”
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold!

Blue moon!
Now I’m no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own

The version performed by Suri Cruise is not yet available online. As soon as it will be published, you will find the streaming in this article.
