Jeffrey Dahmer is among the best-known serial killers in the world. His murders are some of the most ferocious ever carried out. All the victims were young men who had the misfortune to run into him facing a tragic end.
Childhood and adolescence
Jeffrey Dahmer was born in 1960 in Milwaukee into a middle-class family. At the age of six, he moves to Ohio, where he starts to develop a closed and solitary character. Over time Jeffrey shows a unusual passion for dead animals remains. He thus begins to collect small carcasses, dissecting them and preserving the skeletons.
The years go by and at the age of fourteen he has his first sexual relationship with a boy from the neighborhood. Dahmer will never talk about his homosexuality in the family. Meanwhile, he begins to abuse alcohol and secretly develop a sexual attraction for corpses, prelude to a series of horrific crimes to come.
The murders
June 18, 1978. Jeffrey’s parents have recently divorced and he has to stay a few weeks alone in the family home. Taking advantage of this moment, he decides to leave the house and take a ride in the car.
On the way he meets a hitchhiker, Steven Hicks, 19 years old. Dahmer takes him in his car and invites him to his house for a beer. The boy accepts and when the two go to the house to drink everything seems to run smoothly until Stephen expresses his intention to leave due to the late hour. Jeffrey tries to persuade him to stay but the boy refuses. At that point Dahmer’s murderous fury is unleashed: he stuns him with a dumbbell and strangles him. Immediately afterwards he masturbates over the corpse, then after dismembering the body he buries the remains in the woods behind the house.
Following the first murder, Jeffrey continues to live his life without remorse, aware of not being suspected. He joins the army, moving to Germany, until he is discharged for his alcoholism problems. He returns to the United States, where he goes to live at his grandmother’s house. Several years will pass before his second crime.
September 15, 1987. Dahmer meets Steven Tuomi in a gay club. The two spend the evening together in the hotel, until Jeffrey decides to carry out his plan, strangling the victim to death. He later hides the body in a suitcase and take it to his house, where he dismembers it and finally, after putting the remains in garbage bags, throws them in the trash.
From this moment on, Jeffrey Dahmer’s murderous rampage will take over, making him the protagonist of another 15 brutal killings.
On January 17, 1988 he kills James Doxtator, a 14-year-old boy, with the same modus operandi of the previous crime. Two months later, on March 27, Jeffrey does it again; this time against Richard Guerrero of 23 years old.
In September 1988 Dahmer is kicked out of home by his grandmother, no longer willing to tolerate his behavior and also complaining of the bad smell coming from the cellar. In those days he lures a 13-year-old boy, who fortunately manages to escape him. Jeffrey is charged with sexual assault and sentenced to 10 months in a psychiatric hospital. After serving his sentence, he returns to live in his grandmother’s home.
On March 25, 1989 he meets in a bar Anthony Sears, a 24 years old guy who decides to follow him home after the evening. Unfortunately, he will follow the same fate as the previous victims.
In May 1990, Dahmer moves to live alone in an apartment in Milwaukee, where he will further intensify his murderous activity. From June 1990 to July 1991 Jeffrey will claim 12 victims, all young boys lured into his home. The killer follows a precise killing method: first the victims are drugged and then strangled to death. Later on Dahmer carries out acts of necrophilia on corpses, dissects the bodies with a saw and then stores them in the refrigerator and eats them.
A sick and perverse subject, with a criminal design studied in detail. His blood trail seems unstoppable. But fortunately – after seventeen victims – his actions come to an end.
On July 22, 1991, Dahmer lures Tracy Edwards, a 32-year-old boy met a few days before. Once he gets home, Jeffrey gives him a sleeping pill, cuffs his arm and takes him to the bedroom. Tracy immediately notices the photos of dismembered corpses on the wall, manages to hit the attacker and escapes running into a police patrol to which the facts are reported.
The agents go to Dahmer’s house to carry out a search, that ends when they face a macabre scenario. Human remains stored in the refrigerator, skulls painted on a shelf, heads and hands inside pots, penises preserved in formaldehyde.
Jeffrey Dahmer is immediately arrested.
The trial
The trial begins on January 30, 1992. Dahmer impassive throughout most of the hearings, releases only one long statement. This is a part of it:
“Your Honor, it is over now. This has never been a case of trying to get free. I didn’t ever want freedom. Frankly, I wanted death for myself. This was a case to tell the world that I did what I did, but not for reasons of hate. I hated no one. I knew I was sick or evil or both. Now I believe I was sick. The doctors have told me about my sickness, and now I have some peace. I know how much harm I have caused. I tried to do the best I could after the arrest to make amends, but no matter what I did I could not undo the terrible harm I have caused.
I hope God has forgiven me. I think He has. I know society will never be able to forgive me. I know the families of the victims will never be able to forgive me for what I have done. But if there is a God in heaven, I promise I will pray each day to ask them for forgiveness when the hurt goes away, if ever. I have seen their tears, and if I could give up my life right now to bring back their loved ones, I would do it. I am so very sorry.
Thank you your honor, and I am prepared for your sentence, which I know will be the maximum. I ask for no consideration. ”

The sentence was handed down on July 13 and sentenced the accused to a total of 957 years in prison.
On November 28, 1994, after two years in prison, Dahmer is killed by Christopher Scarver, another inmate, hit to death with a metal bar.
In this way ends the story of one of the most brutal and cruel killers ever.
Nicknamed “The Milwaukee Cannibal”, Jeffrey Dahmer embodies all the most shocking characteristics of serial killers, from necrophilia to cannibalism. A deeply disturbed man, at first glance able to project the appearance of a clean and calm boy, thanks to which he managed to attract his victims. His horrible crimes have profoundly marked the history of the world news; a long trail of blood that lasted thirteen years and broke the lives of seventeen people.
